The police in Nyamira County are looking for a grade 9 pupil who allegedly killed his neighbour at Chinunda village after quarreling over a grazing field.

According to the villagers, Teresa Moraa met her death from the stubborn boy who hit her on the head with a blunt object and killed her instantly.

It’s reported that trouble started when the boy left school on Monday afternoon and grazed their cow at the deceased’s farm without her permission.

It was at that time when she questioned the boy on the trespass, however he got irritated, turned and hit her on the head several times until she died.

When he sensed danger from the irate villagers, he scampered for safety, evading the wrath of the villager.

“We wanted to teach him a life lesson but his legs saved him,” said one villager who identified himself as James Zablon.

They reported the matter to the police who took the body to Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary pending further investigations.

Nyamira County Commissioner Erastus Mbui condemned the heinous act but cautioned the residents not to take the law into their hands but leave everything to the police to arrest the suspect and arraign him before the court of law.

He asked parents to restrain their children from being controlled by anger from their early years of life to enable them live in peace with neighbours when they attain adult age.

“Some parents leave their children to grow with destructive character that end up jeopardizing their lives later,” he said.

The Commissioner asked the police officers to investigate the matter urgently and bring the suspect to book
