Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Migos Ogamba and Principal Secretary for TVET Dr. Esther Thaara Muoria have officiated a crucial sensitization forum on the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) modularization curriculum.

The event, held at the Kenya Coast National Polytechnic, brought together key TVET stakeholders from the Coast region, with primary objective to ensure a shared understanding and effective implementation of the new modularized curriculum, which is designed to produce highly skilled and industry-ready graduates.

Dr. Esther Muoria, PS TVET and a staunch advocate for TVET transformation, underscored the critical role of collaboration.

“I underscored the importance of collaboration and teamwork in ensuring that the modularized curriculum is delivered and implemented,” she remarked.

The PS further highlighted the State Department’s vision, adding,

“The state department positions TVET as an important and necessary pathway in skilling Kenya’s youth for industrial development.”

The modularized CBET curriculum, which emphasizes practical, outcome-based training, allows trainees to acquire specific, certifiable skills in shorter durations.

This approach is expected to enhance flexibility for learners, enable faster entry into the workforce, and facilitate continuous up skilling in response to evolving industry demands.

The forum was attended by a wide range of educational leaders, including county directors, principals, deputy principals, heads of departments (HODs), and registrars from TVET institutions across the Coast region.
