Former pupils of Githambo Primary School in Kiharu, Murang’a, have donated a fully-fledged Digital Learning Laboratory to their former institution, sparking celebrations at the school.
The alumni, led by Eliud Maina, donated 15 computers and 10 tablets designed to enhance ICT literacy and assist learners in adapting to Competency-Based Education (CBE). Maina, who serves as Health Chief Officer in the Murang’a County Government, said the alumni recognised the need to help learners at their former school compete with peers from urban areas. “We found it wise to come together and help our children with an ICT laboratory that will help them explore the global,” he said.

AIPCA Bishop for Murang’a South, Samuel Gathang’a, also an alumnus of the institution, used the occasion to appeal to Kenyans, particularly politicians and the youth, not to use platforms to spread hate speech or messages that could plunge the country into conflict or ethnic tension as the next General Election approaches.
School headteacher Kenneth Kamau appreciated the donation, saying it would help learners better understand the CBE concept. “With the support from the old students, the pupils in primary and JSS sections will benefit a lot,” he said.
