In a tragic turn of events a 14-year-old girl from Ndovoini village, Athi River Sub-county in Machakos County died on Monday April 8 in suspicious circumstances while being transferred to the police station to record a statement.
According to a police report, the girl, who had allegedly been defiled by her father died in a police vehicle enroute to the police station.
The suspect Robert Makori had been apprehended by members of the public before being picked up by the duty officer.

The suspect, his wife and daughter were headed to the station when the situation took a tragic turn.
The vehicle had been stuck in mud for some time due to bad weather when the occupant realised the girl had died.
The cause of death has not been established as police commence investigations to unravel the mystery.
