Four teachers, 5 police officers injured in Mandera road crash

Four teachers who were in company of five police officers are nursing injuries in hospital after the vehicle they had boarded was involved in an accident along Banisa-Guba road in Mandera County.

The victims included five police officers from Choroqo Border Patrol Unit camp and teachers from Choroqo, Qotqot and Guba primary schools are currently at Banisa Sub-County Hospital after the Toyota Land Cruiser the group was riding in had tyre bursts, in the incident that took place around 4pm June 6, 2024 leaving them with multiple injuries.

The teachers had asked for a lift in the vehicle when the incident happened.

The driver of the police vehicle is reported to have hit a pothole in the Armano area affecting two tyres which busted open.

According to the driver who sustained minor injuries, the vehicle veered off the road before it landed in a ditch.

The residents in the area has now called on the government to repair roads saying that the number of accidents along Banisa-Guba road in Mandera have been increasing lately due to the poor state of the road.
