A family in Ol-Donyo Sabuk, Matungulu Sub-county of Machakos is crying for help after their 13-year old child was defiled, impregnated and threatened by a man known to them.
The known culprit who was not identified immediately is said to have been in a relationship with the class six girl and impregnated her. After learning the police were looking for him, he vanished into thin air, leaving the girl struggling with her needy family.
“When I learned I was pregnant I told him but he started threatening me, saying I should not tell anyone or he will kill me. I was hoping he would look after the baby because my family is not well off. I’m not the only one; there are other three girls that he has impregnated and left in misery,” said the girl.
The case has been reported to Ol-Donyo Sabuk Police Station under OB number 23/2/204 and the police have since launched a manhunt for the man.
The mother of the girl said her efforts to speak to the family of the man were met with hostility and threats.
“They said we should not tarnish their name with the allegations, and even after seeking the help of the village headman, he couldn’t do much. We are not only living in fear but also poverty,” said the mother.
