The Evojo Primary School community in Vihiga County is mourning the death of trainee teacher Valentine Aja, a third-year teaching practice student from Kaimosi Teachers Training College (TTC), whose dedication to duty has been remembered as an inspiration to both learners and colleagues.
Aja was attached to Evojo Primary School for her teaching practice and had become a valued member of the school community through her commitment, professionalism and warm relationship with learners.
In a heartfelt tribute shared by the school, staff described Madam Aja as a committed and compassionate teacher who remained devoted to her responsibilities despite battling illness during her teaching practice.
According to the school, Aja continued to attend lessons, interact warmly with pupils and carry out her teaching duties with professionalism and a motherly approach, earning the admiration of both learners and fellow teachers.
School remembers dedicated trainee
Her death came just days after Evojo Primary School held an appreciation party for teaching practice students from Kaimosi TTC, recognising them for their dedication and service to the school.
The event took place on Monday, making the news of her passing even more heartbreaking for the school community.
“Despite her situation, she continued to do her best, always attending to her lessons and interacting with her learners in a motherly and professional way,” the school said in its tribute.
The school further noted that Aja had successfully met the qualifications required for employment by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), expressing sadness that she passed away before realising her dream of securing a permanent teaching job.
Tributes pour in
Teachers, pupils and members of the Evojo community described her passing as a painful loss, saying she will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, friendship and the positive impact she made during her teaching practice.
“We will always remember her kindness, friendship, dedication and the beautiful moments we shared together. She may have gone from our sight, but she will never be gone from our hearts,” the tribute read.
The school extended its heartfelt condolences to Aja’s family, friends and the entire Kaimosi Teachers Training College community, praying for strength and comfort as they mourn the loss of a promising young educator.
