Emurua Dikirr MP demands fair bursary distribution as constituency gets Sh70 million
  • Emurua Dikirr MP David Keter has directed NG-CDF officials to ensure bursaries reach all deserving students fairly.
  • The legislator warned against discrimination, corruption and favouritism during distribution of the constituency’s Sh70 million bursary allocation.
  • Keter said political affiliation should not determine beneficiaries, insisting no learner should miss education because of school fees.

Emurua Dikirr MP David Keter has directed the area National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) committee to ensure bursaries are distributed fairly among students in the constituency.

Keter warned that he would not tolerate any form of discrimination or unfairness in the allocation of the funds, saying he would remain vigilant to ensure deserving students benefit.

Speaking in the constituency, the MP said Emurua Dikirr had been allocated Sh70 million for bursaries, describing the amount as the highest allocation the constituency had received.

“The Sh70 million is a huge amount of money, and we must ensure it is distributed fairly so that all deserving students benefit,” Keter said.

He cautioned the NG-CDF committee against corruption and favouritism, stressing that every deserving student should have a fair opportunity to benefit from the bursary kitty.

“All students have a right to get bursaries. No student should be sidelined, including those whose parents did not vote for me,” he said.

Keter said proper distribution of the funds would ensure that no student was forced to remain at home because of a lack of school fees.

He added that the bursaries would help improve access to education and boost learning standards in the constituency.

“If these funds are well disbursed, all our students will have an opportunity to continue with their education. We do not want to see any student remaining at home because of school fees,” he said.

The MP reiterated his commitment to promoting education in Emurua Dikirr, promising to increase bursary allocations in the coming years.

Transparency in bursary allocation

Keter urged the NG-CDF committee to uphold transparency and fairness in the process, saying the funds were meant to benefit students across the constituency regardless of their political affiliations.

His emphasis on oversight echoes a commitment he made in his maiden speech in the National Assembly in June, when he pledged to exercise firm oversight over the constituency’s NG-CDF to ensure public funds serve their intended purposes. Keter won the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat in the May 14, 2026 by-election.

The Sh70 million allocation represents a substantial increase compared with previous bursary disbursements in the constituency. In 2024, Sh41 million in NG-CDF bursaries was announced for needy students in secondary schools, colleges and universities.
