Students from various colleges and universities in Embu County have threatened to stage demonstrations if the police do not arrest gangsters who tortured and gang-raped five college students recently.
Through their leaders, the students said they were surprised that no one had been arrested several weeks after the incident happened.
They were drawn from the University of Embu, Embu College, Chuka University branch in Embu, Walton Beauty College and Kenyatta University branch.
They called on the County’s security team led by the County Commissioner Esther Maina to move with speed to ensure that the gang of ten is arrested.
“The County security team should not push us to the wall because we can be messy. We have tried to be polite and humble but when young girls are raped and no arrest is made, we can’t let it pass,” said Othuon during a press conference.
The armed gang entered the girl’s room in Embu town that had been left open at night, tortured and gang raped them before stealing their phones, money and laptops.
Embu County Commissioner Esther Maina has condemned the incident and expressed concern that such a vile incident could take place in the neighbour of a police post.
