Over 1000 ECDE learners in Matungulu West in Machakos County will be having a cup of nutritious porridge courtesy of area MCA Raphael Nzau.

Speaking while receiving a consignment of the supplies, Nzau disclosed that he approached two companies based in the Ward who agreed to partner with him and supply the porridge flour and cups.

He noted that the suppliers have promised to continuously supply the porridge flour as long as they are in operation in the area as a Community Social Responsibility.

“This is a big support for our children. The porridge will encourage the little kids to come to school consistently and also supplement the existing feeding programme by Governor Wavinya Ndeti,” he said.

The county lawmaker also welcomed industries to invest in the Ward.

Boniface Ndeti, a former teacher, said the initiative will ensure an increase in enrollment of learners in ECDE centres.

He also called for increased bursary allocation by the county government to benefit more students, observing that many were left out in the earlier disbursement.
