Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Eliud Lagat has assured families in Tseikuru, Kitui County, of enhanced security as schools prepare to reopen following a spate of retaliatory attacks that have left several people dead.
Speaking on Sunday, April 26, 2026, Lagat urged parents and guardians to send their children back to school, saying police deployments had been reinforced to restore calm and stability in the area. “With the new school term beginning, parents should feel confident to send their children back to school without fear,” he said.
Lagat, who was accompanied by General Service Unit Commandant Ranson Lolmodooni, was received at Kwa Kamari Police Station by Tseikuru Sub‑County Commander Joakim Mecha, SSP. He was briefed on the prevailing situation before engaging residents on measures being taken to secure the community.
Conveying condolences from Inspector General Douglas Kanja to families affected by the violence, Lagat confirmed that investigations had been launched and vowed that security agencies would pursue those responsible to ensure they face the full force of the law.

Senior officers, including Kyuso Sub‑County Commander Samson Thuranira, SSP, also joined the assessment visit, underscoring the seriousness with which the police are treating the situation.
