Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has presided over the inaugural graduation ceremony of Kipsoen National Polytechnic in Elgeyo Marakwet County, where 983 graduands were awarded diplomas and certificates in various fields.
The ceremony marked a major milestone in the development of the institution and highlighted the growing importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in preparing young people for employment and entrepreneurship.
Addressing the graduands, CS Ogamba underscored the need for learners to acquire practical skills, knowledge and competencies that respond to the changing demands of the labour market.
He noted that TVET institutions play a critical role in equipping young people with hands-on skills that can enable them to secure employment, create businesses and contribute to Kenya’s economic development.
Milestone for the institution
The graduation also marked an important chapter for Kipsoen National Polytechnic, demonstrating the institution’s contribution to expanding access to technical and vocational training in the region.
The 983 graduands joined a growing pool of skilled Kenyans trained in different technical and professional fields, as the government continues to promote TVET as a key pathway for skills development and workforce preparation.
The ceremony brought together national and county government leaders, education stakeholders, families and members of the community.
Among those in attendance were Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wesley Rotich, Deputy Governor Prof Grace Cheserek, Keiyo North MP Korir Adams Kipsanai and Emgwen MP Josses Lelmengit.
The leaders joined the institution in celebrating the graduands and commending them for completing their studies.

The inaugural graduation is expected to further strengthen Kipsoen National Polytechnic’s role in providing technical and vocational education while supporting the government’s efforts to develop a skilled workforce capable of driving Kenya’s social and economic transformation.
