Keiyo North MP Adams Kipsanai has urged residents living around Kipsoen National Polytechnic to take full advantage of the institution’s growing student population.
Kipsanai said the institution now has over 4,000 students, presenting a significant opportunity for the local community to boost their economic livelihoods.
“It would be wrong for us to wait for outsiders to come and set up hostels and shops here,” said Kipsanai. “This is our opportunity. Locals should be the first to benefit from the presence of this institution.”
Speaking at the institution, he also encouraged local contractors working within the polytechnic and nearby sites to incorporate students from the institution’s construction department, saying practical exposure would enhance the learners’ skills.

“Let’s not underestimate the value of on-site training. Allowing our students to participate in real projects will build their confidence and prepare them for the job market,” he added.
Kipsanai later visited Kamariny Day School and Kessup Primary School, where he reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the education sector across the constituency.
Meanwhile, the Kipsoen National Polytechnic administration welcomed the MP’s support, noting that it was a morale boost for both staff and students. During the event, students had a chance to showcase their hands-on training across departments.
In a highlight of the day, the MP interacted with Fashion Design trainees, who had recently completed an order to produce dustcoats for various community groups involved in tree nursery projects.
“We are proud of our students. They are not only learning but contributing directly to the community,” said the institution’s principal. “This is the essence of competency-based education.”
Kipsanai officially handed over the dustcoats during the event, praising the trainees for their professionalism and dedication.
“These young people are showing us the future of Kenya—skilled, innovative, and service-oriented,” he remarked.
The initiative marks another milestone for Kipsoen National Polytechnic, which continues to empower local youth with practical skills to drive both community and national development.
