Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has hailed the late Professor Raphael Munavu as one of Kenya’s greatest education minds whose contribution transformed the country’s learning sector.
Speaking during Munavu’s burial at Mbilini in Kangundo Sub-county of Machakos County, Ogamba said the late professor’s influence on education reforms and academic research will continue shaping generations for years to come.
“The contributions he made are not limited to the village or county he comes from. His academic contributions span across the country,” said Ogamba.
The CS described Munavu as a distinguished scholar and reformist who dedicated his life to improving education standards in Kenya and across Africa.
He noted that the professor served in various top academic positions, including Chair of the African Academy of Sciences and vice chair of several universities, and authored more than 90 academic publications.
“That is somebody who contributed greatly to this country and this sector at large,” Ogamba added.
Ogamba further revealed that the government will continue implementing recommendations made by the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms, which reviewed the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) under the stewardship of Prof. Munavu.

The Education CS also called on stakeholders in the education sector to work together in strengthening learning institutions and improving the quality of education in the country.
He said collaboration among leaders, teachers, parents and education experts is key to achieving meaningful reforms.
