CS Kindiki declares Wednesday April 10, a public holiday

The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government, Prof Kithure Kindiki, has today announced that Wednesday April 10, 2024, will be a public holiday.

In a gazette notice released on Tuesday April 9, the CS said the public holiday will be to celebrate Idd-ul-Fitr.

“It is notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of powers conferred by section 2(1) of the Public Holiday Act. The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Wednesday April 10, 2024, shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr,” the notice reads.

The Idd-ul-Fitr also known as “Festival for Breaking the Fast” marks the end of the Muslim’s holy month of Ramadan which began March 11, 2024 after the sighting of the new moon.

Idd-ul-fitr is a time of joy, reflection, gratitude for Muslims around the world, when they mark the end of the month of fasting and spiritual growth.
