  • The Koibatek Sub-County secondary school football championship remains unresolved after Poror High School filed a fresh appeal challenging Kamelilo Day’s victory, despite Kamelilo winning the title on penalties in a tense 0-0 final.

  • The dispute, now before the KSSSA Jury, follows a series of earlier overturned rulings and has reignited debate over whether tournament outcomes are being decided on the pitch or through appeals.

The Koibatek sub-county secondary school football championship has been plunged into uncertainty after a fresh appeal filed by Poror High School challenged the status of newly crowned champions Kamelilo Day.

The latest dispute comes after weeks of controversy that has dominated the local school games. Poror, under head coach Joseph Ajulu, has repeatedly turned to the appeals process during the competition, with one of the earliest cases involving their opening match against Kamelilo Day.

In that fixture, Kamelilo had secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory on the field. However, following a complaint lodged by Poror, the result was overturned, handing Poror three points and two goals.

The ruling forced Kamelilo to continue their campaign without the two players at the centre of the dispute.

Despite the setback, Kamelilo responded impressively. The team battled through the group stages and semi-finals, defeating every opponent they faced and proving they could compete successfully even without the affected players.

The tournament eventually produced a dream final between the two rivals. Neither side could find a breakthrough in regulation or extra time as the match ended 0-0.

Kamelilo, however, kept their composure during the penalty shootout and emerged victorious to claim the sub-county title.

Just when it appeared the competition had finally been settled on the pitch, another appeal from Poror reignited the controversy.

The matter is now before the KSSSA Jury, whose decision is expected to determine whether Kamelilo will proceed to the Baringo county games as champions.

The ongoing disputes have sparked debate among football fans, with many arguing that results should be decided on the field rather than through repeated appeals.
