Mwala Sub-County Director of Education Stephen Kitungu has called upon contractors and school administrations to make sure Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms are completed within the required timeline.

He urged the BoMs and principals to strictly oversee the construction of the CBC classrooms and ensure they meet the government’s standards.

“The first phase should be completed by August. Slapdash work will not be accepted,” he told the contractors.

He said that out of 45 classrooms, 43 have been completed and that the remaining two classrooms at AIC Mithanga and Kabaa High School will be completed any time.

“The first phase has been successful and we are hopeful phase two will also be successful,” he said.

He added that the second phase of construction has started at a cost of Ksh 13.4 million.

“We have awarded tenders for the construction of 17 classrooms in 10 secondary schools. Each class will cost Ksh 788, 220,” he added.

He added that seven schools will get two classrooms each and the remaining three schools will get one classroom each.

The seven schools include Vyulya Girls, St.Paul Maweli, Miseleni Mixed, Ngamba, Ikalaasa, Kimuuni and Kilembwa Secondary School.
