Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Professor George Magoha has assured the public that the government has  almost reached its target of constructing 10,000 classrooms for Junior Secondary Schools.

Prof Magoha congratulated the work done so far in and revealed that 6,437 classrooms have so far been erected across the country with the remaining 3,500 nearing completion.

He said that the 10,000 classrooms will be complete by August this year with each classroom costing at least 700,000/-.

The CS was speaking during an inspection tour of both Golden Elites and Mudasa international schools.

He was flanked by the directors of the two private institutions namely Charles Ochome (Golden Elites) and Mr. George Mudanyi (Mudasa).

The CS said private schools must come up with 8,000 classrooms.

He praised the two schools for the work well done adding that process of tendering for the works in the schools and provision of desks had been above board.

Prof Magoha said there will be no need of taking students to high cost schools with the existence of schools like Mudasa international and Golden Elites.

The chairman of Private Schools Association Mr. Charles Ochome assured the CS that they will meet deadlines given by the government in coming up with junior secondary schools infrastructure.
