Chepsaita High School and Kesogon Girls High school are the champions of the third edition of the Kesogon Open Volleyball Tournament which concluded in thrilling fashion on May 2 and 3, bringing together top school teams in a fiercely contested championship that showcased emerging talent and competitive spirit.
This came after Chepsaita High School emerged as the standout side,in the boys category; powering their way to the title after a series of commanding performances. Their journey began with a straight-sets victory over Andersen in the quarterfinals (25:23, 25:23), before delivering a dominant display in the semifinals where they swept aside St. Anthony Boys Kitale.
St. Anthony had earlier battled through a tough quarterfinal clash, edging out Cheptais Boys 2-1 in a closely fought encounter (22:25, 25:17, 20:25). Meanwhile, Chesamisi Boys and Lelmokwo also advanced from the quarters after convincing wins over Muge and Bokoli Boys respectively.
The semifinal stage saw Lelmokwo produce a strong performance to eliminate Chesamisi in straight sets, setting up a final showdown against Chepsaita. In the championship match, Chepsaita proved superior, defeating Lelmokwo 3-1 to clinch the boys’ title and cement their dominance in the tournament.

In the girls’ category, hosts Kesogon Girls delivered a flawless campaign to lift the trophy without dropping a single set. They began their journey with a commanding 2-0 victory over Archbishop Muge Girls (25:9, 25:10) in the quarterfinals.
Eagles, Savannah Secondary, and Kosirai also progressed past the quarterfinal stage, each registering impressive wins against Kwanza, Kapsowar, and Lugulu respectively.
Kesogon maintained their dominance in the semifinals, brushing aside Kosirai in straight sets (25:21, 25:20, 25:13). Eagles also advanced to the final after defeating Savannah 3-1 in a competitive semifinal encounter.
The final, however, belonged entirely to Kesogon Girls, who overwhelmed Eagles 3-0 in a one-sided contest to seal the title in emphatic fashion.
The two-day tournament highlighted the growing strength of school volleyball, with teams displaying discipline, teamwork, and high-level competition.
Organizers praised the participating schools for their sportsmanship and commitment, noting that the event continues to provide a vital platform for nurturing young volleyball talent in the region.
