Chepsaita girls dominate Turbo netball championships, qualify for county games

The netball girls from Chepsaita Mixed Secondary School have dominated the Turbo Sub-county championships in spectacular fashion.

The talented girls humbled Turbo in the finals with a massive 94-1 victory in a thrilling match played at Paul Boit Secondary School grounds in Uasin Gishu County.

Chepsaita, a school well known for excellence in sports, proved that they are equally strong in netball. They began their campaign by teaching Leseru “how to play netball” after thrashing them 87-0.

In the second match, they crushed Umoja 86-0 before defeating Sugoi Mixed 81-1 in the third game. In the semi-finals, the Chepsaita girls once again proved unstoppable after beating Boinet 54-5.

Chepsaita will now fly the Turbo Sub-county flag at the Uasin Gishu County Secondary Schools Championships.

Focus Shifts to Trans-Nzoia County Games

Elsewhere, all roads this Thursday lead to Cherangany for the much-anticipated Trans-Nzoia County Secondary Schools Games.

All eyes will be on national secondary school football giants St Joseph’s Boys High School Kitale, popularly known as “Jobo”, who have been placed in Group B alongside Kipkeikei Boys and Kimwondo.

Tough Draw for Former Champions

Meanwhile, former national champions St Anthony’s Boys High School Kitale, famously known as “Solidarity Boys”, are hopeful of making a strong comeback despite being drawn in the tough Group C alongside their traditional rivals Friends School Bwake Boys and Kwanza Boys.

Group A consists of Koykoy of Saboti, Matumbei of Endebess, and Kabuyefwe Boys of Kiminini, while Group D features Kapretwa of Saboti, Kaplamai of Cherangany, and Goseta Boys of Kwanza.

Coaches Eye County Glory

St Anthony’s Boys are under the guidance of Simon Masibo, while Bwake Boys are coached by John Mukongolo, who previously served under Cosmas Nabungolo at St Anthony’s Boys. Jobo Boys are led by the experienced Cosmas Stephen Nabungolo.

Many football fans predict that one of these three giants will lift the trophy and represent Trans-Nzoia County at the Rift Valley Regional Finals in Narok.
