A 21-year-old Business Management student at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Amanda Maiyana Putunoi has emerged victorious as Miss Kajiado County 2023, as she triumphs over twelve other contestants at the Kukurumba Club in Kajiado North Sub County.

Having previously participated in modeling competitions such as Miss World and Miss CUEA, Putunoi expressed her commitment to leveraging the skills acquired during the pageant to combat Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the country.

As the director of the Mayana Foundation, she emphasized her dedication to raising awareness and educating young women on the consequences of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), advocating for positive change.

In tandem, Emmanuel Musyoka, a student at the Railway Training Institute specializing in Food and Beverage, clinched the title of Mr. Kajiado 2023.

Musyoka pledged to create a platform for identifying and supporting the myriad talents present in Kajiado, underscoring the wealth of untapped potential among the youth.

Organized by Emily Nzasu, the Director of 2 Face Modeling Agency, the event aimed to promote talents and empower women.

Participants, drawn from various sub-counties in Kajiado, were required to be either educated or actively undergoing schooling.

Winners underwent training on advocating for the elimination of GBV and addressing issues like early marriage that impact women and society at large.

The Kajiado MR and Miss Competition aligns with the global initiative of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, spanning from November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10, Human Rights Day.

The annual competition serves as a platform not only for recognizing outstanding individuals but also for fostering awareness and action against gender-based challenges.
