Busia school lacks toilets, other facilities

Bishop Hannington Khuduru Primary School lacks toilets, water, facilities and it is pleading with well-wishers to help it upgrade its infrastructure.
Polycarp Makatiani, a teacher at the school, said students relieve themselves in the bush nearby for lack of enough toilets.
“It is very unfortunate that we share the toilets with the pupils, worse still it is not roofed. We have partitioned the two rooms using a mat,” he said.
“When desperate, we seek assistance from the neighbours around who at times see us as a bother and lock us out,” he added.
A classroom under construction has stalled, despite Sh600,000 being injected into the project.
“Every Friday, the teachers send the pupils to look for water to smear mud and cow dung on the classroom floors and walls,” he said.
Some of the classrooms have been partitioned using mats, he noted.
Registered in 2017 as a Government school, has 175 pupils and six teachers employed by the TSC.
