Thirty learners are set to share KSh90,000 in cash prizes during the 2026 Kiwimbi Mathematics Contest, which will be held on Friday, August 14, from 7:30 a.m. at Kiwimbi Library in Amagoro.
The annual inter-school mathematics competition, organised by Kiwimbi Library, is expected to attract learners from primary and secondary schools. Organisers say the contest is designed to nurture mathematical excellence, critical thinking, and healthy academic competition.
According to Kiwimbi Library co-founder Prof. Olubayi Olubayi, the contest will be conducted in three competitive categories, with the top 10 performers in each category receiving cash awards.
The Form Three and Form Four category carries the highest prize purse. The overall winner will pocket KSh20,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive KSh10,000 and KSh5,000, respectively. Competitors finishing between fourth and tenth positions will each receive KSh1,000.
Learners in Grade 9 and Grade 10, as well as those in Grade 6 to Grade 8, will compete in separate categories with identical prize structures. Winners in each of the two categories will receive KSh10,000, while the first runner-up will earn KSh5,000, the second runner-up KSh2,000, and contestants placed fourth to tenth will each receive KSh1,000.
Prof. Olubayi said schools participating in the inter-school championship are eligible to register teams of up to 10 learners per category, while individual contestants can also register directly at Kiwimbi Library in Amagoro.
Registration has been set at KSh100 per learner, with payments to be made through Equity Bank Paybill No. 247247, Account No. 1050279341788 (Kiwimbi Kenya).
Organisers noted that the competition will be conducted in six progressive rounds, culminating in a high-stakes final featuring the top 10 contestants.
During the decisive Level Six stage, finalists will face a timed mathematics challenge in which each participant will have 60 seconds to answer a series of mathematical questions. Contestants can score a maximum of 50 points by correctly solving all the questions within the allocated time.

The final standings will determine the Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners, who will be crowned the overall champions of the 2026 Kiwimbi Mathematics Contest.
