Boy dies in attempt to swallow chapatti during 10 o’clock break in school yesterday at Rombe primary school in Uriri sub county, Migori County.
The standard five pupil is said to have bought the chapatti at school during long break minutes before his friends requested for a share after which he inserted it in his mouth as he ran away from them before he got chocked.
This is according to the schools’ deputy head teacher who confirmed the incident saying the boy was pronounced dead on arrival at Uriri health centre for medication.
Mr. Tobias Ouma told education news that the boy after sharing half of a piece of chapatti he bought, tried to swallow the remaining half before he got chocked.
“It is a pity that our attempt to rush the boy to the hospital failed to save his life as he was pronounced dead minutes after arrival at the Uriri health facility.” Said Ouma.
The 16 year old who met his untimely death has since been buried at his fathers home at got kokomo village within the sub county.
