The Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) has launched a school boxing competition in Nyanza and Western regions targeting students aged 9 to 14.

BFK Technical Director Albert Matito said that the tournament will also include the youth and junior categories.

He noted that the competitions are scheduled three times annually during school holidays, even as BFK intends to continue its regular tournaments and friendly fights.

The junior category is open to pupils aged 15 and 16 while the youth category welcomes participants aged 17 and 18.

On his part, Siaya Top Rank Boxing Club and BFK official Joseph Ochieng called on county governments in the Nyanza region to support the initiative.
