Boost for learners as China set to supply equipment to 70 vocational institutions

Some 70 Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country are set to receive modern training equipment as a result of the continued partnership between the government and the country of China.

This has been revealed by the Principal Secretary, State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training  Dr Esther Muoria in an announcement at her official social media handle today, May 9 and seen by Education News where she revealed to have signed a Commercial Contract for the Supply of equipment to 70 TVET institutions, with AVIC International as the implementer.

“I emphasized that the specifications of the equipment that will be supplied in Phase 3 should support both training and production in TVET institutions. It is expected that TVET trainers will be skilled in the use and maintenance of equipment to enhance training delivery,” part of the announcement read.

She said the contract was signed between the State Department and AVIC International.

Last year, in July, the government announced that it was partnering with China to bring in more equipment to support training in TVET around the country where a 154 TVETs were equipped with modern equipment in two phases as the country is committed to fast-tracking training for youth in skills development based on not only certificates earned but what they can do.
