11 Support Officers commissioned to oversee implementation of TVET curriculum

Principal Secretary, State Department for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Dr Esther Muoria has commissioned 11 Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) Standards Verifying and Support Officers.

The officers will oversee the implementation of new curriculum across TVET colleges in the country.

CBET is an education and training that focuses on the attainment of standards where trainees based on their unique abilities master the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes that are matched with the needs of employers.

Speaking on Wednesday, January 15 during the commissioning at Thika Technical Training Institute, the PS said each of the officers will join a committee of peers committed to shaping the future of the skills and workforce development.

The PS added that they have demonstrated exceptional talent, unwavering dedication and a spark of brilliance.

The officers will ensure there is integrity and effectiveness during implementation of the new curriculum across vocational and training institutes across the country.

Technical and Vocational Education and Training Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (TVET CDACC) has made huge progress in CBET Implementation by coming up with 406 National Occupational Standards and their corresponding Curricula, training 12,556 trainers and Industry practitioners on Competency Based Assessment and developing assessment tools for these Curricula.
