A wave of solidarity has swept across Bomet County after senior leaders and education stakeholders visited ailing teacher, Caleb Langat at his home in Kamaget Village, Chepalungu Sub-County, in a show of support and renewed commitment to his recovery.
The delegation included Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei, Woman Representative Linet Chepkorir, Chepalungu parliamentary aspirant Evans Kipkoech, and officials from the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Bomet branch.
The KUPPET team was led by Executive Secretary Paul Kimeto and included Gender Secretary Evalyne Chepkirui Sanguya, Assistant Treasurer Geoffrey Kirui (alias Kaka Jeff), JSS Secretary Frankline Rono, Organising Secretary Justus Rono (popularly known as Justo), Second Assistant Gender Secretary Jedidah Mutai, and First Assistant Gender Secretary Vivaline Chepkoech. Also present was Bomet KNUT Executive Secretary Desmond Langat, among other leaders.
The visit aimed to strengthen medical, financial, and administrative support for Langat, whose condition has raised widespread concern within the education fraternity.
During the visit, leaders agreed to urgently explore options for facilitating Langat’s evacuation to India for specialised treatment, as fundraising efforts continue across the county.
Senator Sigei outlined a multi-pronged intervention plan, including facilitating a Teachers Service Commission (TSC) payroll and personnel (P&P) letter to safeguard Langat’s employment status during his treatment. He also pledged support in securing a passport and contributed Ksh 100,000 to assist the family.

Bomet Woman Representative Linet Chepkorir also visited the family and expressed optimism about Langat’s recovery. She urged the public to attend a major fundraiser scheduled for May 27, 2026, at Kamaget Secondary School grounds.
“We remain hopeful and united in supporting his journey to recovery,” she said.
KUPPET and KNUT officials pledged ongoing support, noting that Langat’s case has united teachers across the county in a rare show of solidarity.
KUPPET Bomet Executive Secretary Paul Kimeto emphasised the urgency of the situation and called on stakeholders to contribute generously.
Gender Secretary Evalyne Chepkirui Sanguya described the visit as a demonstration of compassion and shared responsibility.
“This is not just about one teacher; it is about humanity, dignity, and standing with one of our own in his time of need. We must all rise to support this cause,” she said.
Leaders jointly appealed to residents, education stakeholders, and well-wishers to attend the fundraiser, which aims to raise Ksh 9 million to facilitate Langat’s treatment abroad and support his recovery.
Well-wishers have been encouraged to contribute via Till Number 5706821 under the name Caleb Kipkirui Langat or seek further information from Aron Kipkirui at 0706 088 006.
The leaders expressed confidence that, through collective effort, the required funds will be raised and Langat will access the specialised treatment he urgently needs.
Langat’s family, overwhelmed by the support, expressed gratitude to leaders, teachers, and members of the public, noting that the solidarity shown has renewed their hope during this difficult time.
