The Baringo County Government has partnered with Teach For Kenya to roll out a new early childhood education initiative aimed at improving learning outcomes in more than 1,000 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres across the county.
The programme will see Teach For Kenya recruit, train and deploy teaching assistants, known as Fellows, to underserved ECDE schools to support classroom instruction and strengthen foundational learning among young children.
Teach For Kenya, a Kenyan non-governmental organisation, works to address education inequality by improving learning outcomes in underserved schools across the country. The organisation advocates for equitable access to quality education for all children, regardless of their background or location.
Under the partnership, the Fellows will work alongside teachers to enhance classroom engagement and improve the quality of instruction in ECDE centres.
Teach For Kenya said the initiative is designed to strengthen early learning systems and bridge gaps in access to quality education at the foundational level.

County officials welcomed the collaboration, saying it would help address staffing shortages and improve learning conditions in ECDE centres across the region.
“We expect this programme to strengthen early childhood education by addressing staffing gaps and improving learning outcomes in our ECDE centres,” county officials said.
The initiative targets critical challenges facing early learning, particularly in underserved areas where schools continue to grapple with shortages of teachers and learning resources.
Thousands of young learners are expected to benefit from the programme through improved classroom support and enhanced quality of instruction across Baringo’s ECDE system.
