Parents, teachers, students and education stakeholders have raised Ksh1 million to support needy students at Ruth Kiptui Girls High School, Kasok in Baringo County.
School Chief Principal Mrs. Monica Buchichi noted that the now annual event seeks to ensure students continue their education and realize their dreams despite their financial shortcomings.
Mrs. Buchichi said that over 60 students from humble backgrounds and areas prone to insecurity will benefit from the funds.
“Some promising girls have left school after lacking school fees while others have fallen victims of retrogressive cultures and the insecurity menace. Since inception of this noble initiative, girls’ hopes to continue their education has increased,” she said.
The jovial school chief however noted that girls from very needy backgrounds will get full academic scholarships through the school.
In its quest to embrace community outreach programmes, the school has donated basic commodities including clothes and foodstuff to residents of Kipsaraman as part of its Community Social Responsibility (CSR).
The school topped in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination in Baringo North Constituency.
During the fundraiser the area Member of Parliament Joseph Makilap raised Ksh300,000 to support the kitty.
