Aspirant warns school managements against sending students home for fees

An aspirant of Sheywe Ward in Kakamega County has told school managements to stop sending students home for school fees as the term is too short and learners are readying themselves for the completion of the syllabus.

Gilbert Alusiula, the aspirant who also vied for the seat in 2007, said government capitation fund is sufficient in schools, reiterating that the Education CS George Magoha recently cautioned school heads against sending students away.

In his campaign rally recently within the ward that also covers Kakamega town, Alusiula delivered geometrical sets, cardboards for KCPE and KCSE candidates together with inter-class exams and general exams for revision purposes.

The aspirant acknowledged the exemplary performance of students across the ward, saying that the good performance came due to motivation of learners in schools.

He urged the county government, investors and education stakeholders to continue supporting the school feeding programme for Grade 4 to the current Class 8.

Alusiula assured that in his manifesto, he would support vulnerable students to get school uniform and shoes, support needy children with good academic performance, propose a bill in the County Assembly to prioritize libraries in schools, avail all CBC requirements in schools and eradicate poverty in the community.

The MCA aspirant asked the government to improve CBC and ensure that it is not a burden to parents, as starting next year, there will be junior and senior secondary schools, therefore, the need to have enough classrooms, desks and control systems in place.
