Kisii County Governor Simba Arati has urged teenagers to abstain from premarital sex in the wake of HIV/Aids and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).

The Governor, who addressed the public at Nyanturago field during this year’s World Aids Day commemoration, asked those who were HIV positive to continue using prescribed drugs to alleviate pain.

Concerning the rampant defilement of underage school girls, the bitter Governor condemned saucy adults who lured minors with money and spoiled their lives.

Arati caused a laugh when he asked those who lusted on schools girls to buy their wives school uniforms.

He took a swipe at Chiefs and their Assistants who failed to report the child defilers to the police.

During the meeting Dr. Alice Mogeni, an officer in charge of Aids Control in the county, told the youth to embrace the ABC approach to keep clear of HIV.

Kisii County Executive Secretary, Mrs. Leah Ogega said that the county government will allocate more funds to drive a campaign against the disease.

Richard Kemosi , a medic from Nyamache sub county hospital revealed  that Kisii county has a total population of more than 1.2 million people adding that out of the populace, 41,000 were reportedly HIV positive.

They were advised to take drugs as prescribed but some let go on the way due to stigma.

“It is only 36,000 people who have remained consistent in using prescribed drugs and are going on well,” he said.

The medic echoed Arati’s message about teenage pregnancies and HIV/Aids infections that he noted places the county at position 9 among the 47 counties in the country.

He asked the youth to abstain from premarital sex while he advised adults to practice safe sex by using condoms and other family planning devices to avoid contracting and spreading the disease.
