An appeal has been made to Tenwek Boys High School Chief Principal, Simon Mutali Chesebe, to assist a needy but bright student from Narok County who is unable to report to school due to lack of fees.

Elkana Kipngeno, a disciplined and hardworking learner from Simotwet Village in Ololmasani Ward, Emurua Dikirr Constituency, was officially placed at the Tenwek Boys High School after performing well at Simotwet Junior School.

His admission is seen as a major milestone and a rare opportunity to nurture his academic potential. However, Elkana’s dream hangs in the balance as his family is struggling financially.

His father, Moses Koech Arap Lasoi, is physically disabled and unable to engage in gainful employment.

The family is already stretched thin, supporting several children in school, including one studying at Kisii University under Band 4, and others in secondary school.

In a heartfelt appeal, a local Bargor Junior wrote to the school administration requesting consideration for fee support, bursary assistance or a flexible payment arrangement to enable Elkana to report and begin his studies.

“Elkana has done his part—he studied, passed, and qualified. What he now needs is a chance,” reads part of the appeal.

Amid the financial challenges, the family and well-wishers have drawn encouragement from acts of kindness. Gratitude has been expressed to Robert Rono of Angata, who donated a pair of school shoes to Elkana as he prepares to step into secondary school in faith.

Community members and education stakeholders are now calling for collective support to ensure that poverty does not deny a deserving child access to quality education.

As many have noted, it is in moments like these that faithful friends and compassionate institutions can change the course of a young life.
