Tenwek Boys High School is set to host a four-day seminar next month targeting grade 9 learners from Bomet, Kericho, and Narok counties.

The seminar, scheduled for August 12-16, is a joint initiative between the school and the Ministry of Education (MoE).

School Principal Mutali Chesebe said the event will focus on guiding learners in their transition to senior secondary education and helping them make informed career choices.

“This seminar is crucial in helping our learners understand the pathways available to them in senior secondary school and beyond,” said Chesebe while addressing the press on Friday. “We want to ensure that students are not only academically prepared, but also informed about the careers they can pursue.”

According to Chesebe, the seminar will bring together educational experts and career counsellors to engage with learners through interactive sessions, discussions, and mentorship programs.

“We are expecting over 2,000 students to attend,” he noted. “It will be an exciting and motivating experience, especially for our Grade 7 and 8 students, who need this kind of exposure early on.”

Chesebe added that similar seminars will be organised in the future as part of the government’s efforts to ensure a smooth implementation of the Competency-Based Education (CBE), particularly the transition to senior secondary.

He urged JSS students from across the three counties to register and take advantage of the opportunity.

“This is not just a seminar – it’s a stepping stone for learners to visualise their futures,” he said.
