Grief and shock engulfed Mobamba village in Masaba South Sub County in Kisii after a teacher allegedly committed suicide.
The body of John Atambo Omboga was found hanging from the ceiling of his living room.
According to his younger sister, the family was in preparation for the funeral of their grandmother who was supposed to be buried a day before the teacher’s death.
“On Thursday he was actively involved in planning of our grandmother’s burial arrangements at Kemera village. We don’t understand what came over him to do such a thing.” The Sister said
“It was until when I noticed that he was not in the procession that I rushed back home to check on him only to find out that my Brother was no more.” The sister added amid tears.
The reason for his death could not be established immediately.
The Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) union Kenyenya branch led by executive secretary Joseph Abincha, were among the first people to send their condolences to the bereaved family.
“We knew John as a very hard-working teacher of English a sportsman and a referee in Handbal. On behalf of the KUPPET fraternity I stand with the family during these difficult times. “Abincha stated.
