Due to the vulgar behavior that has been lately experienced in the country, Makueni Deputy Governor Adelina Mwau has urged parents to keep a close eye on their children.
Speaking at a burial in Kilili-Kalamba ward in Makueni County, Mwau said it is very shocking and embarrassing to see and listen to what school-going children are doing even as the country gear towards the full reopening of face-to-face learning.
“I’m appealing to parents to make sure they know where their children are, with who, doing what and taking how long. I overheard someone worried whether there is any child who will go back to school come January 2021 if this continues,” said Mwau.
Since schools were closed in March this year to avert the spread of the Covid-19, many girls have been reported to have been impregnated with boys turning to drug abuse.
The stern caution comes after 44 school-going children aged between 14 to 17 years were arrested in a house at Mountain View Estate hosted by a 41-year old woman who has since been arrested.
The minors were alleged to have been in a house party since the police officers recovered alcohol, used condoms and bhang.
Around 40 other minors aged between 11 and 17 were arrested in Samburu and Bungoma counties in less than 24 hours after the arrest of the 44 minors in Nairobi.
