By Staff Reporter

KCA University is presently searching for a new VC as Prof Noah Midamba’s term comes to an end.

Prof Midamba who took over the top position in the university as the second Vice Chancellor in 2010 is set to hang his tools on 1st January 2021.

The appointment of Prof. Midamba by the then University’s Council Chair Dr. Fred Matiangi ended weeks of speculations and wrangles about the future of the institution after retirement of the first Vice-Chancellor Prof  Daniel Oruoch.

The University was established in 1989 by the Institute of Chartered Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), received its charter to operate as a private University by the Commission for University Education (CUE) in 2013 by the then President Mwai Kibaki.

The University was put in place with an aim of improving the quality of Accountancy and Financial Management Training in the country, after a study by Chart Foulks Lynch services of the UK in 1987 and 1988 revealing the country’s economy required an additional four hundred qualified Accountants every year.

In July 30th 2014, Prof. Midamba was recognized internationally by the Advisory Council of World Chancellors and Vice Chancellors Congress in India for his outstanding contribution to Education in Kenya and Africa.

The retiring Prof will be remembered for saving KCA Amagoro University Campus in Busia County from closure due to low enrolment after carrying a consultative meeting with the Governor in March this year which saw the county government sponsoring 130 students who enrolled for various courses in the campus.

Before his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Midamba was Senior Partner and CEO of the International Education and Consulting Services (IESC) an International company based in USA.

In 2008 the US Congress awarded him the Congressional Award for his role in settlement of political disputes.

Prof Midamba holds PhD in Defense and Foreign Policy, a Master of International Relations and a Bachelor of Business Administration.

The application for the next VC is set to run till 13th November 2020. Potential candidates are advised to view job specifications in www.kca.ac.ke.
