Mentor climbs up the ladder of Sasra’s top-performing DT-Saccos

The Sacco is leveraging on technology to offer quality services to members

Mentor has scaled up the ladder of financially stable Deposit-Taking Saccos in the country.

Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (Sasra) has rated the Sacco among the fastest-growing after it registered 16.32 per cent growth in total deposits hitting Sh5.97 billion in the financial year 2019 up from Sh5.14 billion in 2018. Only 20 DT-Saccos have managed to rise their members’ saving above Sh5 billion.

Mentor, a large-tier Sacco, is ranked 18th wealthiest DT-Sacco after growing its asset base by 10.89 per cent to reach Sh 7.94 billion last year from Sh7.16 billion in 2018. This is according to new data contained in the Sacco Supervision Annual Report released recently.

Sasra noted that the Sacco had increased its loan book to Sh6.24 billion, which contributed much to its total income of Sh0.98 billion last year.

Its financial performance was impressive across all parameters used by the regulator to measure stability of DT-Saccos.
