Following Prof Magoha’s directive to resume face-to-face learning in universities and Tertiary colleges, Teacher Training Colleges’ top management has released opening dates for 2020 academic year.
According to the circular sent to all Principals dated 1st October 2020 by the Principal Secretary for Education Dr Belio Kipsang, opening date for Diploma in Teacher Education (DTE) third-year students is 5th October 2020.
The group is set to sit for the National Exams from 13th to 15th October 2020. “Third-year students will be in college for two weeks to complete their exams,” reads the statement.
1st and 2nd year DTE students are advised to report to their respective colleges on 19th October 2020. However, this group will be in college for 9 weeks for their third term.
For Primary Teacher Education (PTE), final year students are required in their respective colleges as from 5th October 2020. “Students will be in college for 9 weeks and will do their teaching practise (TP) for one month when primary schools resume physical learning,” reads the statement.
For those pursuing Early Childhood Teacher Education, finalists are required on 5th October 2020 where they will stay for 3 weeks. The group will do their exam on the third week.
Second-year ECDE students, however, are set to report on 26th October 2020 where they are scheduled to stay in college for 8 weeks.
However, in the circular, the Ministry has called upon the management to adhere to the Covid-19 set protocols to avert the spread of the virus.
