Migori County Executive Secretary for Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Samwel Orwa Jasolo is calling on Director of Criminal Investigations to probe claims of corruption on National Government Constituency Development Funds project in schools.
He said that his office has received several complaints from the head teachers over demands of kickbacks.
“The Ministry of Education and DCI should investigate the matter to fight graft in learning institutions.” Jasolo said He was speaking to press in Migori town, said improvement of infrastructure in schools might not be achieved if the vice continues.
Edick Omondi Anyanga, the National CDF director, has urged school heads to write to his office regarding bribe claims for investigations.
“Every projects supported by the CDF must have a project management committee that approves it before it is initiated and if done otherwise then the director of criminal investigations must be notified to take necessary action since that is misuse of taxpayers money,” said Anyanga.
In addition, Jasolo noted that most schools in the county had no proper sanitation following heavy rains that pounded the area recently.
Sigiria Primary School in Rongo Sub County was closed indefinite by health officials after a classroom and all its toilets collapsed risking the lives of learners.
