Knut leadership on spot over teachers’ woes

By John Ochieng

Teachers’ union top leadership has been put on the spot over the woes affecting the teaching fraternity. In what appears to be junior officers of Kenya National Union of teachers (KNUT) accusing the national office for doing very little to avert the challenges faced by teachers due to several policies issued by Teachers Service Commission, branch chairmen in Nyanza led by Rongo branch chairman Samwel Omwaga said the top leadership of the union are better placed to handle teachers woes. He said the union Secretary General Wilson Sossion and several other teachers are Members of Parliament where laws are formulated and ought to have come out to settle the issues affecting the profession.
Omwaga was addressing teachers in Kuria West branch during their Annual General Meeting held at Kegonga Primary School.
