The Public Service Commission (PSC) has opened 1,000 internship opportunities under the Ministry of Education’s Digital Literacy Programme (DLP), giving qualified ICT and education graduates an opportunity to gain practical experience while supporting the delivery of digital learning in Kenyan schools.
The opportunities are aimed at graduates with skills that can support the integration of technology into teaching, learning and education management. Eligible applicants include those holding a Bachelor’s degree in Education specialising in ICT, a Bachelor’s degree in ICT, a Diploma in ICT or a Diploma in ICT Integration in Education from a recognised institution.
The recruitment targets candidates with practical knowledge relevant to the implementation and support of digital learning programmes. Applicants are expected to know areas including networking and infrastructure, application development, information security and project management. They should also demonstrate the ability to integrate ICT into education, particularly in e-learning and digital content development.
Successful applicants will be deployed to Sub-County Education Offices and will work on a full-time basis during the internship period. Their responsibilities will include supporting e-learning activities and assisting teachers and schools in making effective use of digital learning devices and other ICT resources. The interns will also support the integration of ICT into teaching and learning, assist with digital content development and provide first-line support for digital services used in schools.

The placement is expected to give graduates direct exposure to the practical challenges of implementing technology in the education sector. In schools where digital learning equipment and services are already available, interns will help users address basic technical challenges while supporting teachers in incorporating digital resources into classroom instruction. They may also assist education officials and schools in identifying ICT-related challenges and providing appropriate first-level technical support.
The programme will run for 12 months and will not be renewable. Interns will receive a government-determined stipend during the period of engagement. Those who complete the programme will receive certificates from the State Department for Basic Education, formally recognising their participation and experience gained during the internship.

Applications are to be submitted online through the PSC recruitment portal, with the deadline set for October 5, 2026. Candidates are also expected to ensure that the information provided in their applications is accurate and complete before submitting the forms.
The recruitment comes as the education sector continues to expand the use of technology in teaching, learning, teacher support and digital content delivery. The role of ICT personnel in schools has consequently extended beyond maintaining computers and networks to include supporting teachers, managing digital resources and helping education institutions make practical use of technology in learning.
