- KUPPET Bomet branch vice-chairman Kibet Samoei has urged teachers to prioritise documentation over oral preparation for promotion interviews.
- He has clarified that only 2026 co-curricular certificates will earn marks, while TPAD records from 2023–2025 will be used to calculate average scores.
- Samoei has appealed to school administrators and stakeholders to support teachers by providing necessary documentation during the exercise.
Teachers undergoing promotion interviews have been urged to ensure they have all the required documents as the exercise continues.
Bomet KUPPET branch vice-chairman Kibet Samoei said the score sheet being used during the interviews is authentic and forms the basis for awarding marks. He urged teachers to use the score sheet as a guide when assembling their documents, noting that documentation would play a key role in determining their scores.
He said there would be no oral interviews, advising candidates against spending time studying information about their institutions in preparation for the exercise. “It’s the documentation that earns marks. There is no oral interview,” Mr Samoei said.
He further clarified that marks for co-curricular activities would only be awarded for certificates obtained in 2026, with certificates from previous years not attracting marks. According to Mr Samoei, interview panels would also access teachers’ TPAD records to calculate their average scores for the period between 2023 and 2025.

He appealed to school administrators and other relevant officials to provide teachers with the necessary documentation to enable them to participate effectively in the promotion exercise. Mr Samoei said supporting teachers during the process was important in promoting their professional growth and helping those who had remained in the same job group for a long period progress in their careers.
“I humbly appeal to all the concerned parties to provide interviewees with the necessary documentation at their disposal since this is a critical moment in their profession,” he said.
He added that facilitating teachers’ progression was a collective responsibility, urging stakeholders to support eligible teachers seeking promotion to the next job group.
