- TVETA has completed its accreditation and quality assurance exercise in the Coast Region
- The team inspected institutions across Kilifi, Lamu and Tana River counties, assessing facilities, documentation and trainer qualifications.
- The authority has reaffirmed its commitment to extending regulatory oversight to institutions in remote and hard-to-reach areas.
The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) has concluded its accreditation and quality assurance exercise in the Coast Region after inspecting institutions in Tana River County despite heavy rains.
The inspections came after the team visited Kilifi and Lamu counties as part of the wider exercise aimed at ensuring TVET institutions meet the required regulatory and quality standards.
The exercise, which began on September 14, 2026, saw the team travel from Magarini TVC in Kilifi to Lamu, where it crossed to Lamu Island to inspect Riyadha College of Islamic Studies for initial registration and licensing of new programmes.

The team later proceeded to Hola Town before completing the final assessments in Tana River, where they visited Tana River Technical and Vocational College (TVC) in Hola and Fayya TVC in Bura to assess their readiness for licensing of additional programmes.
During the inspections, TVETA assessed institutions on areas including institutional documentation, training facilities, trainers’ qualifications, internal quality assurance systems, and programmes and curriculum.
The exercise is part of TVETA’s efforts to extend regulatory oversight to institutions across the country, including those in remote and hard-to-reach areas. The Authority said the inspections are aimed at ensuring institutions meet the required standards before offering training, while promoting access to quality and relevant skills development.
