The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Siongiroi Campus in Chepalungu, Bomet County, is nearing completion and is expected to admit its first batch of students in December 2026.
The Sh50 million campus, which sits on a 10-acre piece of land, is now about 99 per cent complete, paving the way for the start of training programmes at the institution.
The facility comprises modern classrooms and an administration block, with plans underway to construct an additional 16 classrooms to expand its capacity. There are also plans to acquire a campus bus to support its operations and student activities.
The establishment of the campus is expected to increase access to medical training opportunities for students in Chepalungu and neighbouring areas, while also addressing the shortage of trained healthcare workers in the region.

Beyond providing training opportunities, the campus is expected to stimulate economic activity in Siongiroi and its environs. Residents are expected to benefit from employment opportunities, while traders and other businesses could see increased demand for goods and services as students and staff settle in the area. Farmers are also expected to benefit from higher demand for agricultural produce to supply the growing population around the institution.
The campus is further expected to enhance access to health information and education among communities in the largely rural area.
The County Government of Bomet is also expected to establish a Level Four hospital in the area. The health facility would provide an important avenue for students to gain practical experience while expanding access to healthcare services for residents. The two projects are expected to complement each other by linking medical training with practical healthcare delivery.

The completion of the KMTC campus marks a major step towards expanding opportunities for young people in the region, while supporting the development of the local economy and healthcare services. The institution is expected to become an important centre for skills development and healthcare training in Chepalungu once it begins operations.
