- Parents at Serewek Comprehensive School have raised concerns over the institution’s management and use of resources.
- They accuse the principal of financial mismanagement, poor relations and mishandling school property and projects.
- The allegations remain unverified, while the principal and TSC were unavailable for immediate comment.
Parents at Serewek Comprehensive School in Trans Mara, Narok County, have decried alleged mismanagement at the institution, accusing the school principal of undermining its stability and development.
Led by parents Sally Kirui and Naomi Korgoren, the group claimed that poor administration, alleged misuse of school resources and deteriorating relations with learners and parents were threatening the future of the school.
Speaking at the school, Kirui accused the principal of misappropriating funds and misusing school property, saying parents had initially welcomed him with confidence and expected him to help improve the institution.
“We welcomed the teacher to this school, but little did we know that he could run down the institution,” Kirui said.
She said parents had at one point lost confidence in the school board, suspecting that some members could have been working with the principal to misappropriate funds received from the Ministry of Education.
“Initially, we thought the board members were colluding with the principal in misappropriating funds from the ministry. But after investigations, we realised that the principal had also misled the board members,” she said.
Kirui called for a thorough investigation into the school’s management, saying parents wanted accountability over the institution’s finances and property.
Parents demand TSC intervention
Korgoren said the school had been struggling and parents had sought assistance from the Safaricom Foundation to help stabilise the institution.
“We sought support from Safaricom Foundation because we wanted to stabilise this school, only for the teacher to chase away some learners,” Korgoren alleged.
She further accused the principal of conducting business within the school and destroying beehives that parents had established as a potential source of income for the institution.
“We have been patient with this teacher for a long time. He has been doing business in the school and has also destroyed the beehives we had intended to use to generate income for the school,” Korgoren said.
Korgoren urged the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to remove the principal and deploy another head whom parents can trust to manage the school transparently.
“We want the Teachers Service Commission to remove the principal and send us an accountable head. Everything is clear, and we even recorded what the teacher said in the office,” she said.
Parents call for investigations
The parents also called for comprehensive investigations into the allegations, insisting that they would no longer allow the principal to continue serving at the school.
“We will not allow this teacher to continue serving here. This is a school we hold dear to our hearts, and we want to see it develop,” the parents said.
The allegations could not be independently verified, and the principal and the Teachers Service Commission were not immediately available for comment.

The parents said they would continue pressing the relevant authorities to intervene and restore confidence in the management of the school.
