Detectives have arrested a primary school headteacher in connection with the fatal shooting of teacher and civil servant Amos Kibet in Mon Location, Kerio Valley Sub-County, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Peter Suter Kipkeu, the headteacher of Koitilial Primary School, was arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Marakwet East following investigations into Kibet’s death. The case was initially reported at Mogil Police Station, with detectives launching investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identify those responsible.
According to investigators, the arrest followed recommendations by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) after detectives completed key aspects of their investigations. Kibet, who worked as a teacher and civil servant, was fatally shot in circumstances that have remained under investigation for several months.

The arrest marks a significant development in the case, as detectives seek to establish the motive for the killing and piece together the events leading to Kibet’s death. Kipkeu is expected to be processed in accordance with the law as investigators pursue further inquiries into the case.
Police said investigations are ongoing and that any other person found to have been involved in the killing will face the law. The arrest comes as detectives intensify efforts to resolve the case and bring those responsible for Kibet’s death to justice.
