- St Clare Kioge Girls School has welcomed Mrs Elmedah Ochenge as its new principal, taking over from Mrs Everline Mokua under TSC’s routine transfers.
- Mrs Ochenge, formerly of Nyabururu Girls School, has pledged to work with the Board of Management, parents and teachers to uplift academic standards and discipline.
- Parents and the BOM Chairman have expressed confidence in her leadership, citing her track record and calling for improvements in infrastructure, guidance and boarding welfare.
St Clare Kioge Girls School in Kitutu Chache South Constituency, Kisii County, has received a new principal, Mrs Elmedah Ochenge, this term as part of the ongoing principals’ reshuffle in the county.
Mrs Ochenge takes over from Mrs Everline Mokua, who has been transferred to another school in the region as part of routine transfers by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Mrs Ochenge, who once headed the neighbouring Nyabururu Girls School but was transferred from the institution unceremoniously to pave way for Chief Principal Joyce Orioki, is one of the long-serving female principals from the region, with a track record of both academic and leadership excellence.
Speaking when she was officially welcomed to the school on Monday, Mrs Ochenge thanked the Ministry of Education and TSC for trusting her with the leadership of the school, which is one of the top-performing girls’ schools in Kitutu Chache South. She promised to work together with the Board of Management, parents, teachers and students to uplift the academic standards and discipline of the institution.

The school’s BOM Chairman welcomed the new principal and assured her of full support, saying the school community was ready to work with her to maintain the school’s good name. Some parents who turned up to welcome her expressed optimism, saying they expect her to improve infrastructure, enhance guidance and counselling, and strengthen the boarding welfare of the learners. They noted that given her long experience and excellent record at Nyabururu Girls, they are confident she will steer St Clare Kioge Girls to greater heights.

St Clare Kioge Girls Secondary School has been posting good results in KCSE in recent years and is known for its strong discipline and Christian values. The ongoing principals’ reshuffle being witnessed in Kisii County and the larger Nyanza region is aimed at injecting new energy into school management and improving performance.
