Kirinyaga University is in the process of admitting 4,784 first-year students for the 2026/2027 academic year, with more than 3,300 students having completed the online admission process ahead of physical reporting.
The university recorded a strong turnout on Tuesday, the first day of physical reporting, as newly admitted students arrived from different parts of the country to begin their academic journey.
The new cohort will pursue a wide range of programmes offered by the institution, with students expressing optimism that their studies will equip them with skills and knowledge needed to compete in the job market and pursue future careers.
An admission official said the strong response demonstrated growing confidence in the university and its academic programmes.
“This reflects the trust and confidence placed in our institution. We remain committed to delivering quality, accessible and inclusive education as we prepare to welcome our new cohort,” the official said.
Biometric registration
As part of the admission process, the university has also commenced biometric registration for all first-year students at the University Pavilion. The exercise is the final step in the admission process and is required to facilitate easy access to the university entrance. The institution has urged all first-year students who have not completed the exercise to visit the pavilion and get cleared.
From the third day of reporting, the university also began opening its facilities to the new students, including the library, which plays an important role in supporting academic work.
University librarians encourage first-year students to make full use of available resources and seek professional assistance whenever they experience difficulties accessing information.

With thousands of students expected to join the institution, Kirinyaga University says it remains focused on creating an enabling environment for learning, research, innovation and skills development.
