The Government has disbursed Sh6,000 to eligible households under the Cash Transfer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (CT-OVC) programme, covering the April, May and June 2026 payment cycle at Sh2,000 per month.

The Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services, through the State Department for Children Services, confirmed the release of the three-month payment. Hanna Wendot Cheptumo said the Government remains focused on safeguarding vulnerable households while enhancing children’s access to essential services.

The CT-OVC programme supports households caring for orphaned and vulnerable children in meeting basic needs, including food, education, healthcare and nutrition. The Ministry said accurate identification and verification of beneficiaries remains central to the programme, to ensure assistance reaches genuine orphans and vulnerable children while minimising leakages, duplication and fraudulent claims.

The Government confirmed that preparations for the July 2026 payment cycle are at an advanced stage, indicating continuity of support for eligible beneficiaries. Officials said timely disbursement remains critical for households that rely on the payments to meet food, education and healthcare costs, particularly caregivers supporting multiple children on limited or irregular incomes.

The Ministry said the CT-OVC programme forms part of broader Government interventions targeting vulnerable families across education, healthcare, nutrition and child protection services.
